Fixed & demand charges: why you pay even at zero units

Every connection pays a fixed component. Learn how it is calculated and how to reduce it.
How fixed charge is set
For domestic, it's a small ₹/kW of sanctioned load. For commercial/industrial, it's ₹/kVA of contract or maximum demand — whichever is higher.
Reduce it
For LT-II and HT connections, review contract demand quarterly. If you consistently use less than 75% of contract, request a downward revision.
